I’m Mags. I am a philosopher and a recovering compulsive eater. I research and write about food, fitness, fat and health. I sometimes teach philosophy classes. I didn’t pay much attention to my body for the first 30 years of my life, but in recent years I’ve started waking up to it. I feel like a nervous toddler on a climbing frame, unsure what I am able to do and whether I will be brave enough to let myself do it.
Over the past six years, I have lost about 12 stone (about 72 kg or 170 lbs) and made significant improvements to my health and fitness. This blog is where I share some of what I think I’ve learned from changing my eating and exercise habits. The title Fit&Flair is a bit aspirational: I’ve made some significant gains where fitness is concerned, but I still have a long way to go. As for the flair, well I’m very good at painting my own nails … will that do for now? 🙂
